Books & Brews CKVL – Where Literature & Libations Mingle
Imagine a space where lively literary discussions flow as freely as craft beer. This is the reality at Books & Brews CKVL, a thriving community reading group that has blossomed since its inception in 2020. What began with a modest gathering of just four individuals has burgeoned into a vibrant collective, now boasting over 300 members in their online group and more than 45 attending their monthly in-person meetings.
The magic of Books & Brews CKVL lies in its unique formula: combining the intellectual stimulation of a book club with the relaxed atmosphere of a brewery. Each month, members convene at Red Silo Brewery, transforming the space into a hub of literary exploration and camaraderie. This novel pairing is precisely what inspired the club’s catchy name.
The club’s operational model fosters engagement and ownership among its members. Each month, a volunteer takes on the role of “book host”. This host selects a recently released book (within the last six months) for the group to read and then leads the discussion during the meet-up, even crafting their own discussion questions. This dynamic approach ensures a diverse range of literary experiences and perspectives.
Beyond the regular monthly gatherings, Books & Brews CKVL offers exciting opportunities for its members. They have been “fortunate to host some incredible authors at our meetings, including a New York Times Best Seller!”. The club is actively seeking more author visits, both in person and virtually, further enriching the literary experience. They also appreciate the support of Red Silo for providing their meeting space and Plenty for book club discounts.
Books & Brews CKVL is more than just a book club; it’s a welcoming community that embraces new faces and fosters “lively conversations about literature”. From its humble beginnings to its impressive growth, this group exemplifies the joy of shared reading and good company, proving that the perfect pairing might just be a captivating book and a well-crafted brew. If you’re seeking a unique and engaging way to connect with fellow book lovers, Books & Brews CKVL might just be your next chapter.
