Dr. Alissa Hudson and Middle TN Eye’s Patient-Centric Approach to Eye Care
As a respected name within the area healthcare community and the first female ophthalmologist in the Upper Cumberland area, Dr. Alissa Hudson is accustomed to pushing boundaries and leveraging her extensive expertise to enhance the eye health of those who walk through the doors of her practice.
Following training at Vanderbilt, Emory, and Harvard, Dr. Hudson joined Middle TN Eye which, in 2024, is celebrating its 18th year caring for the people of Cookeville using cutting-edge techniques, a dedicated staff, and a commitment to providing an easy, uplifting patient experience.
During this time, she has overseen tremendous growth, assembling an all-female staff (including the additions of new optometrists Pamela Cosgrove and Kelly Martin who bring nearly 50 years combined industry experience), partnering with Vanderbilt retinal specialist Avni Finn for weekly care options, building a refractive practice (LASIK is available for patients looking to become independent of their glasses and cataract patients are offered a variety of lens options that lessen glasses dependency following corrective surgery), and incorporating a cosmetic line of services that include injectables and eyelid surgery. And, with an eye on the future, Dr. Hudson and the team at Middle TN Eye are expanding their current location (be on the lookout for the ribbon-cutting ceremony later this month).
Beyond the practice, Dr. Hudson cares deeply about family, the city she’s devoted her career to, animals, and Halloween (a simple drive past her house during the fall will confirm the latter). Took out street
She’s married to her high school sweetheart Phillip, the owner of Cumberland Supply in Carthage, TN with whom she raises their three children, CeCe, Bear, and Darby.
She’s also passionate about the arts, as passersby and patients alike can easily see when admiring the mural she commissioned to ornament her practice by Chattanooga artist Olivia Reckert earlier this year.
Dr. Hudson is also deeply passionate about animals, (she is a devoted attendee of the Fur Ball, an annual fundraising event that supports the local animal shelter), making her the perfect fit for this edition of Cookeville Lifestyle Magazine.
Dr. Alissa Hudson truly loves Cookeville and the entire Upper Cumberland.
Her team at Middle TN Eye Associates is an extension of this zeal for her community and they’d love to help make your eye health better than it’s ever been, starting today.
