Local Cookeville Caregiver Named Finalist for National Caregiver of the Year Award
Visiting Angels, the nation’s leading provider of in-home senior care, is proud to announce Cherry Seibers as a finalist for its 2025 National Caregiver of the Year Award.
As a caregiver with Visiting Angels Cookeville, Tennessee, Cherry was selected as one of the top three finalists from nominations submitted by the company’s 600 franchise locations. The award recognizes Cherry for her unwavering dedication, nurturing nature, and deep empathy.
“Cherry is the heart and soul of Visiting Angels Cookeville,” said Charlotte Suggs-Nabors, owner of Visiting Angels Cookeville. “She radiates compassion and dedication, showing up every single day for the clients and families who rely on her not just as a caregiver, but as a constant and loving presence.”
Cherry has dedicated more than two decades of her life to caregiving, starting at just 15 years old, when she volunteered at a nursing home. In her 11 years with Visiting Angels, she’s never missed a shift. That includes caring for the same client for eight years. That client even says that without Cherry, his sunshine would be gone.
It’s not just about Cherry’s skills but the warmth in her heart and the nurturing environment she creates. After a client suffered an indescribable loss, the family turned to Cherry for comfort. Cherry’s clients and peers say she always finds light in the chaos.
“She doesn’t just show up for the easy moments; she shows up in the sacred ones,” said Sarah Long, care coordinator at Visiting Angels Cookeville. “Cherry is there on Christmas morning bringing the warmth of the season, and she’s there to make her clients’ favorite breakfast when she arrives for work.”
Even when covering shifts for other caregivers, Cherry leaves a lasting impression. Clients often request her by name, moved by her warmth and her ability to create a genuine connection.
“Cherry is one of those people whose presence can change the feeling of a room,” said Larry Meigs, CEO of Visiting Angels. “She lifts others with her words, her spirit, and her actions. Her legacy is not just in hours worked, but in lives touched. We are proud to recognize her as one of our 2025 National Caregiver of the Year finalists.”
As a Caregiver of the Year finalist, she’ll receive $5,000 and an award at an upcoming ceremony.
