Movers & Shakers – Ashley Martin

Ashley Martin’s career to date has centered around one thing, home.

“My journey into real estate was driven by a deep-rooted desire to help people. Before getting into real estate, I dedicated a decade of my career as an insurance agent with Farm Bureau where I helped people protect their homes, assets, and their families,” she stated. “I made the leap into real estate in 2019 after spending ten years in the insurance world.  It was a big change, but the timing was perfect, and it all started when I got the chance to work closely with my friend and mentor, Natalie Stout. Learning from Natalie was a game changer. She provided me with a unique, hands-on learning experience and equipped me with a depth of knowledge and insight into real estate that I couldn’t have gotten just anywhere. My background in insurance, combined with Natalie’s guidance, paved the way for my successful transition.”

As someone accustomed to helping clients manage risk and face the challenges of home ownership, Ashley brings a unique blend of experience and empathy to her role as a real estate agent in the Upper Cumberland.

“My time in the insurance business provided me with a profound understanding of people, their worries, dreams, and the pivotal moments in their lives. Transitioning to real estate was a natural progression. I wanted to be there for one of the biggest moments in someone’s life, finding their home.” She continued, “It wasn’t just about shifting career paths, I wanted to really make a difference, helping guide people through the exciting, sometimes tough adventure of owning a home. Then there’s the emotional side of buying or selling a home. It’s a huge deal for people, and it can get pretty stressful. Dealing with this has really taught me the value of being empathetic, patient, and a good communicator. It helps me connect with my clients and support them better through the whole process.”

“I’m a Tennessee farm girl through and through. I grew up on a multi-generational farm just north of Cookeville and riding horses is a huge part of my life. Supporting farm life is in my blood. These days, I’m still hitting the county fair, competing in barrel racing, and every now and then, I enjoy a good trail ride. If you’ve heard of the Cowgirls of Real Estate, I’m one of them!” She elaborated, “Cookeville holds a very special place in my heart. It’s packed with all my best memories and the people who’ve shaped me. From playing high school basketball for the Lady Cavaliers to attending Tennessee Tech while working at Averitt Express, I’ve got roots here that run deep. I’m not just selling homes, I’m welcoming new members into our community, helping them find their place in this town that means so much to me. I’m incredibly grateful to live, work, and play in Cookeville, contributing to the fabric of our community and making sure it’s a great place now and in the future.”

Ashley Martin puts others first, and that (along with immense talent and knowledge) earned her a spot in this year’s Movers and Shakers edition.

When asked about what the recognition means, she stated, “Being named a mover and shaker for this year’s edition is an incredibly humbling and rewarding experience. It’s not just a pat on the back for me, but a huge shoutout to all the amazing support I’ve gotten from my clients, colleagues, and everyone in the community. I’m grateful for this acknowledgment and it inspires me to strive for greater achievements, always focusing on doing my best for my clients and contributing positively to the community that has given me so much.”
