The wait is almost over. Popular chain restaurant Drake’s is gearing up to open it’s doors to the public on August 14th in Cookeville. We caught up with the Drake’s chief operating officer Mark Thornburg, on what customers can expect from the new location. 

Although Cookeville has no shortage of chain restaurants lining Interstate Drive, there is no lack of cars parked at each and every one on any given night. When asked why Cookeville was an ideal location for the next Drake’s location, the answer was simple. “Cookeville has a thriving community and we are excited to join,” said Thornburg. “We also love the location along the 1-40 corridor. Tennessee has been very good to us. With restaurants in Knoxville and Franklin, we’re excited to fill a hole with the new Cookeville location!”

While there is already a wide selection of dining options in Cookeville, the Drake’s brand is distinctive to our area in many ways. “Drake’s is a unique concept known as a ‘restaurant that loves beer and a bar that loves food,'” said Thornburg. “Specializing in beer, burgers and sushi; Drake’s offers something for everyone.”

Thornburg continued, “When you come to Drake’s you can expect exceptional food, unwavering commitment to hospitality and an atmosphere that invites people to have a lot of fun.”

The new Drake’s is set to feature a year-round patio with large garage doors that will open during warm weather, creating a lively open-air atmosphere, and a fireplace to keep warm in cooler months. The restaurant will house two bars, one on the patio and one inside. Outdoor patio seating will also be available.

When it comes to the menu, there is truly something for every member of the family. From the traditional American-style pub food, including hand-pressed burgers, steaks, mini sandwiches, Sriracha wings and build-your-own tacos, to the extensive sushi menu, there is an eclectic variety of options. In addition, Drake’s Aqua Sushi chefs offer sushi lovers rare flavors and perfectly-executed classics, all rolled-to-order in a window open to the restaurant.

With a capacity of 300 and a staff of roughly 190, the new hot spot will be open seven days a week and feature seasonal specials and promotions.

“There’s always something new at Drake’s,” said Thornburg. “We offer a burger and sushi special that changes every month. Guests can enjoy seasonal promotions like St. Patrick’s Day and Oktoberfest menus, specialty cocktails for Halloween, Shark Week, Mardi Gras and more!”
